Quitman Pilot Club plans annual benefit chili cook-off

Posted

The Quitman Pilot Club’s Chili Cook-Off will be Friday, Jan. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carroll Green Civic Center in Quitman. Well-known for a fun time in support of a good cause, there’s always some tasty chili served with lots of laughs at festive booths.

Entry fee for cooks is $25, along with a $25 gift card, or $50 without a gift card. Gift cards will be used to build high-dollar buckets that will be raffled the night of the event. For the entry and sponsorship forms, visit the Quitman Pilot Club Facebook page to download or email fonda827@gmail.com.

Dale “The C” Cummings will keep the crowd entertained and energized. There will be a lively dessert auction and awards for best chili, best booth, people’s choice and others.

Tickets to attend and eat chili are $10 for adults and $5 for those 12 and under. They will be available from any Quitman Pilot or on the night of the event at the door. Or email Quitmanpilotclub@peoplescom.net to arrange for tickets.

Chairwoman Fonda McBride said, “After a year hiatus we are thrilled to hold the chili cook-off. It’s beloved by the community and us. It generates a large portion of the funds needed to support all of our community programs. We are filled with gratitude for the way the community and our sponsors support and embrace the cook-off. Besides, it’s one of the most anticipated events of the season. All of us Pilots can’t wait to see who earns the 2022 trophies and bragging rights.

All funds raised support the non-profit, all-volunteer Quitman Pilot Club mission of providing education for the prevention of traumatic brain injury and offering services to those suffering from brain related disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and autism. Pilot projects include bicycle safety, Project LifeSaver, scholarships and sponsorship of Special Olympics and many others that contribute to the health, safety and quality of life for community members.
