Quitman Pilot Club honors member as ambassador
The Pilot Club of Quitman has named member Sharon Brooks of Land’s End as their 2020 Pilot International Club Ambassador.
This honor is given to a Pilot who is extremely active with projects or in core areas of club service.
Brooks is all of those things and the epitome of a servant leader. She has worked in many roles over her years as a Pilot, including acting as club treasurer multiple times.
She is the president elect for 2020-2021.
President Paige Eaton said, “I cannot think of a more deserving person than Sharon to receive this award. She puts in countless hours in the service of Pilot, in addition to all of the other charitable work that she does for the community. And she always does it with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. She is an inspiration to all of us and we are grateful to have her in our club.”
A contribution was sent to Pilot International to their Safe Harbor Fund in her honor. The fund is used to help individual Pilot members affected by disasters, like the recent hurricanes that affected coastal Texas.
The Quitman Club is an all-volunteer group that is focused on preparing youth and young adults for service, encouraging brain safety and health, supporting those who care for others and other projects that contribute to the well-fare of local citizens. Typical projects include presenting the local sanctioned Special Olympics meet, presenting a brain safety awareness and bicycle safety rodeo at three local schools, presenting scholarships, an Alzheimer’s seminar and sponsoring the local teen Anchor Club. The club also contributes throughout the year to area needs as they arise.
