The library will be closed Friday, July 4 in celebration of Independence Day.

July is also National Anti-boredom Month. With a little help from the library and a bit of motivation, this July can be boredom free by staying connected through a variety of activities. There’s plenty going on at the Quitman Public Library.

The public is invited to join the Wood County Metal Detecting Club on Monday, July 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the library community room.

Board Games for Teens group meet every other Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. in the community room. Bring board games and snacks to share. This group is organized by Homeschoolers – Wood County, Texas and is designed for teens 13-19. Call 903-763-4191 to confirm game days.

Bridge is the ultimate trick-taking card game and is a sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee. David Worrall, a professional bridge player and instructor, is starting a team that will meet weekly at the library. Whether you are a seasoned player or just a beginner, you will love this challenging and enjoyable game. Stop by and sign up at the library.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. at the library. Students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join. Classes are free.

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society invites family researchers to meet on the 3rd Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the community room. The next meeting is July 21.

Patron cards are available at no cost for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.
