Friends of the Quitman Public Library has cancelled the January meeting and are hoping to reconvene in February. Officers for FY21 are Jackie Gilbreath – president, Carley Tucker – vice-president, Rebekah Yeager – secretary and Tonia Nix – treasurer.

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society meets each third Monday at 7 p.m. in the library’s Thurman Shamburger Community Room. Contact David Gilbreath at 972-977-7988 for meeting confirmation and follow the society’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets year-round at the library each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction. Bring your patterns to swap with others.

In the lobby showcase is a collection of Snoopy Christmas memorabilia on loan from Tonia Nix. Stop in soon and see what your library has to offer. Online services are available by visiting our website at www.quitmanlibrary.org to find the TexShare® database of reference resources and OverDrive® for the latest eBooks, audiobooks and streaming video.

Library cards are available for those who can provide proof of residence in Wood County and photo identification. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17.

The Quitman Public Library is operating in accordance with current state guidelines with regular hours of Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to wear protective masks and allow others plenty of personal space. All patron areas are regularly disinfected with industrial grade disinfectant.
