Summer reading programs may be over, but the library has many new e-books aimed for elementary-aged children that are available online by visiting the library’s home page. These virtual books are narrated in several languages.

With school starting back soon, homeschool instructors as well as public school teachers are encouraged to download the OverDrive® app to connect to our library’s vast collection of eBooks, audio books and streaming video. Also, our online TexShare Database is loaded with invaluable and up-to-the-minute research tools and reference resources. Call or stop by the library for log-in information.

The 2nd Friday Acoustical Music Jam has been suspended until further notice due to maximum capacity and social distancing restrictions. Contact Eugene Allen 903-975-5745.

Knitting and crochet instruction class meets each Thursday, 2-4 p.m. in the Shamburger Community Room. Students of all ages and skill levels may bring their own supplies and join the group for free instruction.

The Wood County TX Genealogical Society is always ready to assist with family history research. Call 903-763-4191 to schedule an appointment or contact a member through the society’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/woocotx.

Patron cards are available for those who provide photo identification and proof of residence in Wood County. A guardian must sign for children ages 5-17. Keep current at www.facebook.com/quitmanpubliclibrary and visit the library’s website at www.quitmanlibrary.org.

The library is operating in accordance with current state guidelines with regular hours of Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to wear protective masks and allow others plenty of personal space. All patron areas are regularly disinfected with industrial grade sanitizer.
