Quitman FFA team places 5th at State

A team of Quitman FFA students placed fifth place in the state FFA Greenhand Skills competition. Avery von Reyn, Kennedi Howle, Elizabeth Herring competed and earned fifth place in the contest on Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 at Sam Houston State University.

The Senior Skills and Junior Skills teams earned first place in the area contest. Students competed in the area LDE FFA contest on Nov. 14 at Texas State Technical College in Marshall. The following is the results for the area contest:

1st Place - Senior Skills- Jordyn Blalock, Julia Simpkins and Whitnee Wieher

1st Place- Junior Skills- Avery von Reyn, Kennedi Howle and Elizabeth Herring

3rd place - Radio Broadcasting- Josh Medlin, Jentri Jackson and Lucy Brannon

3rd Place- Junior Chapter Conducting- Harlie Haney, Wyatt Hightower, Katy Knutson, Brooklyn Marcee, Alexis O’Neal, Gavin Oakes, Sydney Reid and Matthew Smith

3rd Place- Public Relations- Keeley Glidewell, Lindsey Hornaday, Lucy Brannon and Shelby Hayes

4th Place - Senior Chapter Conducting- Wyatt Bashiom, Alyssa Creed, Aliegh Farham, Shelby Hayes, Branden Sessions, Brayden Sessions and Lexi Wilson

5th Place - Ag Advocacy- Brenley von Reyn, Jentri Jackson, Jordyn Blalock and Lexi Wilson

9th place - Ag Issues- Rhiana Bradshaw, Kasey Davis, Courtney McCollum, Kayla Munger, Crystal Plata, Brayden Sessions and Kendal Wiley
