Quitman Dogwood Pageant set for Saturday


The next set of queens will be crowned at the 2019 Dogwood Pageant on Saturday, May 18.

Hosted by the Quitman Chamber of Commerce, the pageant begins at 1 p.m. at the Quitman High School auditorium.

The categories are Miss Dogwood (high school sophomores and juniors), Junior Miss (sixth through eighth grade) and Little Miss (kindergarten through second grade).

Participants are judged on interviews, answering questions on stage, wardrobe and being photogenic.

Each winner will receive cash prizes. The Little Miss winner gets $100, the Junior Miss winner will receive $250, and the Miss Dogwood winner will be awarded $1,000. The Miss Dogwood runner-up will receive $500.

The contestant of each group who sells the most tickets will receive a $50 cash prize.

Pageant tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. There will be activities after the pageant on the square in downtown Quitman.
