Quitman ISD school board members approved the purchase of 100 student Chromebooks and 50 teacher laptops Monday.

The cost is just over $66,000. The district received a grant which will cover $60,000, and the district will be spending $6,000.

Quitman ISD school board members approved the purchase of 100 student Chromebooks and 50 teacher laptops Monday.

The cost is just over $66,000. The district received a grant which will cover $60,000, and the district will be spending $6,000.

The board approved an inter-local agreement with Winona ISD for evaluation services provided by Kelly Blalock. An inter-local agreement with the county for tax collections was approved.

Budget amendments for the new agriculture barn and for the Schneider Electric project were each approved. The district broke ground for the new agriculture facility Monday morning.

In another matter, board members approved a resolution and adjunct faculty agreement regarding extra-curricular status of the Wood County 4-H organization and county agriculture extension agent Emily Husman for working with Quitman ISD students.

Superintendent Rhonda Turner reported district student enrollment numbers were up to 1,231. “This is a pretty high enrollment number for us at this time of the year,” Turner noted.

Finance Director Kari Wilson reported tax collections for QISD were at 97.45%.
