It’s Grand Opening time for Stitchin’ Heaven in Quitman.

Texas’ largest quilt shop and online destination for quilters, is celebrating its 17,500 square foot facility with three full days of festivities Thursday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 15.

Local residents and travelers will be coming to enjoy Stitchin’ Heaven’s fun and relaxed atmosphere as they enter to win prizes and learn more about the hobby enjoyed by seven million across the United States.

Each day will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. with onsite activities. Additionally The Supper Quilt, will be on display. The quilt is 67” by 183” and is a traveling work based on the Leonardo DaVinci’s Last Supper. Dr. Donald Locke, a retired dentist, created the interpretation with 51,816 squares of fabric.  The quilt can be viewed all day Friday and Saturday until 2 p.m.

Co-owner and founder of Stitchin’ Heaven Deb Luttrell is excited about the event. “The continued support we’ve received from Quitman and our entire Texas community has been phenomenal and so heartwarming,” Luttrell said. “Our hope is that the new shop and upcoming lodging additions will bring more commerce to the area and continue the revitalization of this great town. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of the friends we’ve made along the way.”
