QISD honors Attaway
The Quitman ISD school board gave the October Top Dog Award to beloved Quitman citizen Sally Attaway on Monday, Oct. 20.
Attaway, who is involved in many boards, committees and organizations in Quitman, said that she was “completely surprised because I’m just one person…not an organization.”
“I’m very humbled, honored; but mainly, it’s just my gift for God,” said Attaway. “I try to exhort people that are not told enough how thankful we are for all of your time.”
QISD Superintendent Chris Mason said they awarded the Top Dog award to Attaway for her heavy involvement in Quitman, investment in Quitman children’s lives and commitment to “(tell) the truth.”
“One of the things I admire most is that she tells the truth, and she can tell you how it is,” said Mason. “(We) could not recognize a better human (with the award), so we’re super excited to say, ‘This month’s Top Dog Award goes to Miss Sally Attaway’ – and I have to do this – ‘Attaway to go, Miss Sally!’”
The board also gifted Attaway a small bouquet of roses.
