The Quitman ISD school board approved a budget amendment for $450,551 to pay for the Dimock building on E. Goode St.

The building will become the new headquarters for transportation and maintenance. Previous to Dimock, the building was the site of the Texas Dept. of Transportation.

A public hearing was held concerning the financial integrity rating system of Texas. Finance administrator Kari Wilson made the report.

“This is the opportunity for the public to ask questions or speak. We did get a perfect score of 100 and that is considered a superior achievement,” Wilson said.

Board President Jeremy Smith asked for comments or questions. There were none from the small audience. The hearing was closed after two minutes.

The board acted on district innovation plans. The current plan ends in March 2023.

Assistant Superintendent Chris Mason gave the board the plan for hiring non-certified teachers. The new plan allows up to two years for a non-certified instructor to earn their certification. The board approved the new plan.

The board approved $29,792 for a new motor for one of the district buses. The bid was awarded to Navistar.

Trustees approved a resolution adopting the district investment plan, approved resale bids on three properties for back taxes and a resolution adding Mason to the authorized signatures at Origin Bank.

Mason will take over superintendent duties when school opens after the Christmas break in January.
