Quitman ISD received a perfect score for the management of its financial resources according to a recent report by the Texas Education Agency.
In the 2017-18 School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report, Quitman and other public school districts in Texas were rated on 15 financial factors to determine how well the districts were utilizing their funds.
The following financial management ratings are assigned to schools: superior, above standard achievement, meets standard or substandard achievement. Letter grades A, B, C or F are also determined from the FIRST report.
QISD received the superior rating.
“I believe all districts strive to achieve the superior rating,” Quitman ISD Superintendent Rhonda Turner said. “I am proud of the perfect score, and I think it speaks well of the processes that are in place within the district. QISD will continue to work diligently to maintain the integrity of our business office.”
FIRST encourages public schools to improve how finances are utilized to give the most funds possible for direct instructional purposes. Year 2017-18 ratings use financial reports from fiscal year 2016-17.
