The Quitman High School Student Council will start their annual canned food drive on Saturday and will be trick or treating for canned foods that day. The cans gathered will be donated to the Quitman Christmas Caring and Sharing program.
This is a great opportunity to help those less fortunate in our community, said an organization spokesperson. “The students will be dressed in costume and will identify themselves as members of the council. We urge you to have your canned foods ready,” Shelly Chance, sponsor, said. “If you won’t be home, you can leave them in a bag on your front porch, by your front door. Our goal this year is to collect 5,000 cans.”
Anyone who wants to donate cans can take them to the high school office. The canned food drive will end Friday, Nov. 3.
