The Quitman Bulldogs split a pair of District 13-3A baseball contests last week.

The Bulldogs got a big road win last Tuesday at Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, whipping the Red Devils 12-2 in five innings.

Quitman’s Hayden Cook ripped Chapel Hill pitching for four hits as the Bulldogs pounded out 10 total hits. The Bulldogs scored early, posting four runs in the first inning. Cook, Mason Reynolds, Aiden Corrior and Jack Tannebaum each had first inning runs batted in.

The Bulldogs were leading 8-2 when they added four more runs in the top of the fifth to make it 12-2. Landon Richey and Ty Holland combined for 10 strikeouts while holding Chapel Hill to just four hits. Richey started the game and had nine strikeouts while walking only one batter and taking the win.

In Quitman on Friday, the Bulldogs took a 4-1 first inning lead on Winnsboro, but the Red Raiders came back with big innings in the fifth and sixth to take control and posted a 10-4 win.

The Raiders scored six runs in the fifth inning and added three more in the sixth to claim the victory.

Winnsboro collected nine hits while Quitman had seven hits led by Carson Dickens’ 2-3 day at the plate. Quitman committed three errors to just one for Winnsboro.

After playing at Mineola Tuesday, the Bulldogs will host Winona Friday at 6 p.m.
