Pros to compete at disc course

The disc golf course at the Mineola Nature Preserve will host its first professional event on Saturday, July 24.

The city parks and recreation board approved the use of the preserve’s course for the Professional Disc Golf Association event.

The preserve will be open that day, Mineola City Manager Mercy Rushing said, but visitors will need to steer clear of the course while the tournament is being played.

The event is expected to draw 90 or more disc golfers from throughout the area.
