After a long and courageous 16-year battle with breast cancer, fought with the utmost grace and surrounded by her loving family, Patricia Ann Vaughn-Cupit claimed victory and transitioned peacefully to Heaven in her sleep at her home in Sulphur Springs.

She was born in Sulphur Springs on April 15, 1941 to Henry and Frances Britton, the fourth of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bobby J. Vaughn of Greenwood, S.C.; two sisters, Betty Clark and Marie Casey of Sulphur Springs; and stepdaughter, Diana Batton.

Shortly after graduating from Sulphur Springs High School in 1959, she began her professional journey in Washington, D.C., working as a secretary for the FBI. She went on to build an impressive administrative career, spending the latter half at Wells Fargo, where she created lifelong memories and friendships. Her career was more than a job – it reflected her character: dependable, caring, loyal and dedicated to excellence in everything she did.

But above all, Pat’s true calling was loving and caring for others. A woman of deep faith and immeasurable heart, she poured herself into her family – her greatest joy and life’s work. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose love knew no limits. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every laugh and every moment spent together.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and family that will continue for generations. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jacky Douglas Cupit, of Mineola; sister, Martha Person of Arlington; brother, Charles Britton [Joy] of Sulphur Springs; three daughters, Teresa V. McGarity [Michael] of Rock Hill, S.C., Cindi V. Overcash  [Johnny] of Surfside Beach, S.C. and Sandra V. Harred [Derrek] of Dike; step-daughter, Carrie Cox [Dan] of Alvarado; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Alba, 219 E. Holley Street.

Pat had a special place in her heart for children and faithfully supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, reflecting her lifelong generosity and compassion. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at
