Panthers blast Fruitvale, lose to Como-Pickton 5-1

Though Alba-Golden hitters went to bat in only two innings last Tuesday against Fruitvale, the Panthers got four cracks at Bobcat pitching and came through with 25 runs.

The district baseball game was called after Fruitvale’s third at bat, with an Alba-Golden win 25-3.

The Panthers plated six runs in the first and added 19 in the second.

Alba-Golden needed just 11 hits to do that damage, and Fruitvale contributed with nine errors.

Landon Green led the charge with three hits and seven runs batted in. Jayden Green added three RBI on two hits, Chelton Cook had a pair of hits and Easton Campbell drove in two runs. Micah Smith reached twice on walks.

Cook pitched two innings, striking out five. Landon Green also took the hill, striking out two. They combined to allow just one hit.

The regular season concludes Friday as the Panthers host Como-Pickton. The two teams also tangled on Monday in a game rescheduled from Tuesday. Alba-Golden took the loss 5-1 despite outhitting the hosts 6-3. The lone Panther run came in the top of the fifth which made it 2-1 before Como-Pickton added three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Kason Trimble had two hits and Chelton Cook drove in the Panther run.

Aaron Graham pitched five innings, striking out five.
