Mt. Vernon gains win over QHS
Quitman’s Lady Bulldogs fell on the road to Mt. Vernon last Tuesday night 47-31.
The Lady Tigers led 14-6 after one quarter and 30-14 at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs fought back in the second half with both teams scoring 17 points.
Head Coach Blake Hamrick said, “We played a really good second half and a pretty good first quarter.
“The last minute of the first quarter and all of the second quarter we struggled, and you can’t have those moments against good teams. I was proud of the girls and how they continued to fight to the end.”
Senior Lady Bulldog Reiny Luman led Quitman with nine points and seven rebounds. Freshmen Allie Berry and Sadie Vander Schaaf continue solid varsity play. Vander Schaaf scored five points and played great defense while Berry added four points with seven rebounds.
Sophomore Ashley Davis added seven points and had a team leading nine rebounds to the cause.
Quitman hosts Chapel Hill Friday and goes to Winona Tuesday.
