MISD presents honors, recognitions
The recent Minolea ISD school board meeting included numerous recognitions and presentations concerning school programs.
The following were presented as students of the month:
Primary-Pre-K, Yoleni Hernandez Sevilla and Bryson Ledkins
Elementary-4th grade, Ximena Villeda and J.D. McGough
Middle-8th grade, Saoirse Ray and Francisco Villanueva
High school-12th grade, Riley Donohoe and Jacob Esquivel
Teacher of the month-High School history, Amanda Crone (also the campus teacher of the year)
Support staff-high school aide Vicky Valek was congratulated on retirement after 31 years serving MISD.
Valedictorian Sunni Ruffin and salutatorian Jack Heard were honored in absentia.
Fishing team members Buddy Ruffin and Jace Tindall were acknowledged for competing in the state tournament.
Two FFA contest teams were honored for advancing to state, the floriculture and ag sales teams.
Floriculture included Valeria Veloz, Sunni Ruffin, Michelle Hernandez, Jennifer Perez and Jack Heard.
Robotics team state qualifiers recognized were Jackson Bamberg, 7th at state; and Hunter Collier, SaNiya Jones and Joel Smith, 6th at state.
UIL state track meet qualifiers Olivia Hughes, Kozbie Riley, Shylah Kratzmeyer and Carmen Carrasco were introduced.
Two program presentations were made by the after-school Mineola skate club and the automotive education program, which saw students qualify for 368 industry certifications.
