Two missing Quitman teens are safe after being found in the woods near the Bud Moody football stadium. The boys—ages 13 and 12—were reported missing Sunday evening around 4:51 p.m.

Quitman police and firefighters responded and learned that the boys had supposedly walked down into the woods and got ‘turned around’ and could not find their way back. One of the boys reportedly had a cell phone in his possession and was able to dial the police for help.

Authorities attempted to locate the teens by tracking the signal of their cell phone and using a GPS (global positioning system) tracking system.

About 20 people, including law enforcement and volunteers of the Hainesville Fire Department, searched the woods near where the boys reportedly entered the wooded area. Authorities walked ad used four wheelers in search of the missing boys. An East Texas Medical Center helicopter assisted in the search and was able to pin point their location.

The boys were found around 6:30 p.m. about a half-mile in the woods on the west of the football stadium and Morris Street gymnasium almost two hours after they were reported missing. After the boys were checked out by medical personnel, they were released back into the custody of their parents. The boys did not suffer any injuries.
