Mineola’s Emily Miller makes all-state band for 4th time
Mineola High School senior Emily Miller accomplished the rare feat of qualifying for the all-state band for all four years of high school.
Miller, who plays the flute, was the top flute player at last Saturday’s area tryout.
She will participate in the all-state band performances of the Association of Texas Small School Bands in San Antonio Feb. 12-15 in San Antonio. The concerts will be Saturday the 15th.
Miller is the first student from Mineola to earn all-state all four years.
Students who achieve four years as all-state musicians qualify for a scholarship from the music association and will be recognized during the concert.
Three other Mineola students tried out for the state band and placed as follows:
Kaleece Palmer - 3rd chair percussion (state alternate), Josie Hornsby - 5th chair bass clarinet, Camila Delgadillo - 6th chair trombone.
