Mineola track teams take top spots at home

The Mineola Yellowjackets will be making another strong push for the district track championship this week. The boys and girls teams had an outstanding showing at the Yellowjacket Relays last Thursday. 

The girls team edged out Eustace to win the eight-team meet, while the boys squad finished second to Chapel Hill Tyler.

Mineola track teams take top spots at home

The Mineola Yellowjackets will be making another strong push for the district track championship this week. The boys and girls teams had an outstanding showing at the Yellowjacket Relays last Thursday. 

The girls team edged out Eustace to win the eight-team meet, while the boys squad finished second to Chapel Hill Tyler. 

The Lady Jackets relied on exceptional individual performances and strong finishes in the relays to claim the crown. Taking the blue ribbon in their respective events were Tahjae Black (long jump), Abeni Kratzmeyer (100 meters and pole vault), Kozbie Riley (400 meters) and Emily Wiley (200 meters).

The 4x100 meters relay team of Kratzmeyer, Riley, Wiley, and Riley Weekly secured a second place finish, and the 4x200 team of Abeni Kratzmeyer, Shylah Kratzmeyer, Weekly and Wiley took the third place finish. 

Additional top-three finishers were Black (triple jump), Shylah Kratzmeyer (pole vault), Juliana Stanley (400 meters) and Kapri Riley (1600 meters).   

The Mineola boys team tallied five first-place finishes on the day. Adam Blalock (pole vault), Trevion Sneed (shot put) and Morgan Waggoner (100 meters) joined the 4x200 meters and 4x400 meters relay teams in claiming blue ribbons. 

Jaxon Holland, Jamarcus Kennedy, Brady Shrum and Waggoner ran the 4x200 meters, while Holland, Shrum and Waggoner were joined by TJ Moreland in the 4x400 meters. 

The junior varsity teams mirrored their varsity counterparts with the JV girls team securing first place and the boys finishing second.
