The Mineola Lady Jackets cruised to a bi-district title Monday with an 80-8 win over Dallas A+ Academy. The Lady Knights were the fourth seed coming out of District 11-3A.
Mineola put up 42 unanswered points in the first quarter. The visitors mustered just one shot in that opening quarter as the Lady Jacket press created 17 turnovers.
Coach Gibson called off the press at the start of the second quarter, and senior stand-out Sabria Dean watched the second half from the bench. Gibson also directed that all breakaway opportunities would be slowed down, and the half-court offense executed in the second half.
A bi-district title is just that, and the Lady Jackets earned it. There will be tougher challenges yet ahead as the playoffs heat up.
