Mineola, Quitman bands advance

The Mineola High School Sound of the Swarm marching band will defend its six-time area championship on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Whitehouse High School. The Swarm once again received all one’s from the judges at the region marching contest on Oct. 21. The band is also the defending state champion and four of the past five.

The Quitman High School Proud Blue Band received all ones from the judges at the region marching contest on Oct. 21 at Mt. Pleasant and advanced to the area contest on Nov. 1 at Whitehouse. The band will be attempting to qualify for the state marching championship at the Alamodome in San Antonio Nov. 12.
