Mineola powerlifter runnerup, advances to girls state meet

Izzy Tresca of Mineola placed second in her weight class at the regional high school powerlifting meet Saturday in Fairfield and qualified for the state meet.

In the 198 class she had lifts of 365 lbs. in the squat, 185 lbs. in the bench press and 315 lbs. in the dead lift for a total of 865 lbs.

The state meet is March 19-21 in Waco. Tresca will lift on the 20th.

Also from Mineola, Kaitlin Burrell placed fourth in the 165 class with lifts of 335, 130 and 320 for a total of 785 lbs.

In the boys regional meet in Malakoff Friday, KeJuan Fite placed third in the 275 class with lifts of 620, 355 and 510 for a 1,485 lb. total, just 20 pounds behind the second place state qualifier.

Trevion Sneed was ninth in the 242 class with a 1,290 total while Kobe Kendrick was 10th in the 220 class at 1,225 lbs.

From Quitman, River Chaney placed fifth in the 148 class with lifts of 420, 240 and 420 for a 1,080 total. Mariano Manriquez Lara placed sixth in the 123 class with a 780-pound total.
