8:12 a.m. Animal Control officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Broad St. in reference to several dogs that had been in a parked vehicle for several hours. Officers checked on the animals and found them to be OK. The owner was located a short distance from the truck.

Mineola Police Report, May 14-20

May 14

8:12 a.m. Animal Control officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Broad St. in reference to several dogs that had been in a parked vehicle for several hours. Officers checked on the animals and found them to be OK. The owner was located a short distance from the truck. 

10:13 a.m. A man in the 200 block of McWhorter St. reported that two dogs had entered onto his property and chased chickens and a calf. Animal Control officers responded and the owner of the dogs was located. The dog owner received several citations for dogs at large and for failing to have required state vaccinations. 

1:34 p.m. Officers were called to the 500 block of E. Broad St. for a motorist assist when a man reported that his truck would not start. When officers arrived the man refused any assistance. 

2:59 p.m. A woman reported that her purse was stolen while inside the restroom at Walmart. Officers responded to the location and talked with the woman and employees at the store. The woman’s purse was located. 

4:21 p.m. Officers were dispatched to a salon in the 1100 block of N. Pacific St. The caller advised that she was having a dispute with a former employee. Officers made contact with all parties and found that it was a civil matter. No offense had occurred and no report was made. 

6:54 p.m. A reckless driver was reported in the 600 block of W. Broad St. The caller advised that a vehicle was unable to maintain a single lane of traffic. Officers made contact with the driver and after further investigation, officers reached out to a family member to pick her up. The driver was not intoxicated but was having problems operating the vehicle.  

May 15

12:00 a.m. A one-vehicle accident was reported when a truck left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The accident occurred at West Loop 564 and Country Club Drive. The driver was not injured, but several utility services had to be called to assist with damaged property.  

7:45 a.m. Officers assisted with a stranded motorist in the 100 block of E. Broad St. Officers helped push the vehicle out of the roadway and into a parking lot. 

8:16 a.m. A business in the 500 block of E. Broad St. reported that one of its vendors was unloading merchandise and had consumed food items without paying for them. The vendor paid for the items before leaving and no report was filed. 

11:51 a.m. Animal Control was called to the 500 block of W. Buchanan St. when a woman located a bat inside an umbrella. The bat was removed and released in a safe location. 

2:47 p.m. A verbal disturbance was reported in the Walmart parking lot. The caller advised that two women were yelling at each other. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the people involved. The incident was found to be verbal only. The parties separated and left the area.

11:38 p.m. A vehicle accident was reported in the 100 block of E. Broad St. Witnesses reported that a vehicle was backing from a parking area and struck another vehicle stopped in traffic for red light. One of the vehicles remained on scene and the other vehicle left going south on Pacific St. Investigation continues. 

May 16

12:39 p.m. Officers were dispatched to Walmart for a possible theft. Officers made contact with the suspect. No charges were filed per request of the store’s management team. 

2:10 p.m. Walmart reported a theft that occurred in April. The reporting person stated that two suspects left the store with over $150 worth of merchandise. The store does wish to file charges This case is under investigation. 

5:23 p.m. Officer assisted EMS with a medical emergency at the Mineola Primary School on NE Loop 564. A person was transported to the hospital by EMS. Two children were later released to family members. 

7:25 p.m. Officer searched for a vehicle involved in a possible theft. The suspect left Walmart without paying for merchandise. The vehicle was not located. This case is being reviewed. 

May 17

4:30 p.m. A cell phone was reported missing from a parked vehicle in the 200 block of N. Newsom. Street. The cell phone was located at another location and returned to the owner.

6:53 p.m. A 32-year-old Yantis man received a citation for theft after passing all points of sales at Walmart. The man was detained and later released after being issued a criminal trespass.  

7:06 p.m.  Dispatch received a call about an off-road four-wheeler driving on the roadway at a high rate of speed. The caller advised the four-wheeler was in the area of Krause St. and Stone St. The vehicle was located, and officers gave the operator a warning and the driver was required to park the machine. 

8:29 p.m. Officers received a theft call from a business on N. Pacific St. The theft occurred several days earlier, however it was just discovered when empty boxes were located inside the store. Video was obtained and a suspect was located on surveillance. This case is under investigation.

9:59 p.m. Officers assisted EMS in the 700 block of Second St. The caller advised that a person on the scene was very agitated. Officer assisted at the location and EMS was then able to enter the location without incident.

10:24 p.m. A parent reported issues involving juveniles in the 400 block of Wigley St. Officers responded and spoke to the reporting party. A report was made and forwarded to investigations.

May 18

9:16 a.m. A business in the 300 block of E. Broad St. reported that a small bag of drugs was found in one of their restrooms. The bag was turned over to police and a report was made. This case is under investigation.

10:23 a.m.  A woman reported that she was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend. The woman stated that her ex was stopping by her place of employment in the 400 block of E. Broad St. The woman stated that she wanted the conduct to cease. The man was identified and a criminal trespass was completed.  

1:08 p.m. A man reported that he was distracted while operating his vehicle and had ran into a fence. Officers responded to the location to find that the fence had been damaged due to the vehicle leaving the roadway. This incident occurred in the 1100 block of N. Newsom St. A vehicle accident report was completed. 

2:14 p.m. Officers received a report of fraud when an unauthorized charge was found on a man’s debit card that he did not approve. The man supplied all of the required paper work and a case was filed. This offense is under investigation. 

May 19

1:45 a.m. Officers assisted a resident in the Wigley St. and Welch St. area locate a dog that had got loose. Officers advised that the dog was located but the owner was unable to catch his dog.  

11:06 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 600 block on N. Pacific St. about disturbance. The caller advised that his wife was upset and destroying property inside of the residence.  Officer talked with everyone at the residence and it was determined that no offense had been committed. 

11:32 a.m. Officers made contact with the road construction crew about several 18-wheelers parked on E. Broad St. blocking the view of the drivers approaching the Graham Street intersection. The trucks were moved to another location. 

5:23 p.m. Officers were called to the 600 block of Epperson St. when a dog at the location had been reported to have killed a sheep belonging to the neighbor. This case has been turned over to Animal Control officers for further investigation. 

May 20

11:39 a.m.  A woman in the 700 block of Goodson Circle requested officers to have a subject criminally trespassed. The person was located and a trespass was issued without incident.
