Jan. 23

7:37 a.m. A burglary of a vehicle was reported on Pegues Street. Nothing was taken from the vehicle at the time, but the vehicle was rummaged through. The vehicle was unlocked, with no forced entry.

3:34 p.m. A suspicious person was reportedly walking around the building at the police department/city complex, with a limp and stumbling. When the officers checked on him, he was found to have a parole warrant for robbery. James Randy Narron, 65, of Mineola was arrested for the warrant.

3:59 p.m. A family member of a man that rode the train and got off in Mineola reported the man was not there when he got to the train depot to pick him up. During the investigation, another family member was contacted and they stated the man was going from Louisiana to Dallas, to stay with the family member that was picking him up. It was determined that the man changed his mind and decided to go back to Louisiana. 

7:34 p.m. Charles Woodrow Bertrand, 34, of Mineola, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended, no financial responsibility and expired registration. An officer stopped Bertrand for the expired registration on N. Newsom St.

Jan. 24

11:11 a.m. A resident on Hogg St. wished to speak with an officer in reference to information on how to remove a person from the residence. The officer referred the resident to the justice of the peace.

11:47 a.m. A family member reported their daughter locked herself in the bathroom at a residence on Hogg St. and refused to come out. The family member stated the daughter took an overdose amount of medication. Officers responded and tried to talk to the female, but she was not cooperative. An officer forced entry into the restroom and called EMS to the scene. The female went willingly to the hospital.

4:09 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle broken down in a no parking zone near East Texas Burger. An officer checked on the vehicle and determined the vehicle was not broken down. The driver was warned to move the vehicle to a legal parking space.

4:13 p.m. An officer assisted with directing traffic when the traffic lights malfunctioned at Pacific and Broad St.

5:23 p.m. A resident on Walnut St. reported she told the owner of a trailer to come pick it up, but the owner told her they had reported it stolen. An officer determined the trailer was not entered as stolen and explained to the resident the trailer situation is a civil matter.

7:08 p.m. A man that was walking on University St. at the old gym reported he had found a driver’s license and credit cards. It was determined to be property from a reported vehicle burglary. The property was returned to the owner. 

9:06 p.m. A welfare concern was reported in reference to a 16 year old living at a residence on Brenda Lane. The complainant reported she was the mother and went to pick her up and when she did, a man made her leave the property. During further investigation, the mother did not have custody and the teenager was fine, but she did not wish contact with her mother.

Jan. 25

12:18 a.m. While on routine patrol at Blair and Second St., an officer checked on a suspicious person walking in the area, because of the recent vehicle burglaries. The female was known to walk in the area at all hours and lived close by.

6:24 a.m. A resident on West Blair reported a suspicious female that knocked on his door. When the resident answered the door, the female let herself in and locked herself in his bathroom. An officer responded and knew the female to live close in the area. The officer spoke with the female and had her go to her residence.

9:30 a.m. A suspicious person was reportedly parked on a parking lot on East Broad St. asleep with a dog in the vehicle. The officer made contact and determined a night officer told the man it was fine for him to sleep there last night.

11:04 a.m. A resident on Molly Lane reported a suspicious person pushing a shopping cart and looking into residents’ garages. An officer made contact with the man in the Brookshire’s parking lot with the shopping cart. He had trash in the cart he had been picking up.

11:42 a.m. Several 911 calls were received in reference to a naked woman walking in the roadway on W. Broad St., acting strange and yelling at people. An officer located the female subject. The female would not cooperate with the officer and struggled with him, which led the officer to handcuff her. The officer knew she had some sort of a medical condition, so he called EMS. The female was taken to a Tyler hospital by EMS.

12:06 p.m. A bank card was located in the ATM at a bank on N. Pacific St. and turned in. An attempt to contact the owner was unsuccessful, so the card was returned to the bank during business hours.

4:21 p.m. A woman reported while picking up trash on N. Pacific St., she found a syringe. An officer took possession of the syringe and properly disposed of it.

9:55 p.m. An officer assisted a Wood County deputy with a vehicle search at Wren and Guy St.

10:43 p.m.  An officer checked on a man who was walking on the wrong side of the roadway on East McDonald and asked him to move to the other side for safety reasons.

Jan. 26

1:30 a.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on W. Blair St. A female was transported by EMS to UT Health in Quitman, with an officer following EMS, to have a mental evaluation conducted on the female.

8:05 p.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance when a deputy had a vehicle stopped and needed assistance with a language barrier. An officer responded and did assist.

Jan. 27

2:27 a.m. An officer assisted a Wood County deputy with a traffic stop on Greenville Ave.

12:15 p.m. Brookshire’s reported a woman had her purse stolen while in the store. During further investigation, the purse was left, but the wallet was taken. A suspect has been identified and this is under investigation.

5:26 p.m. A criminal trespass warning was issued to a man at his residence on W. Blair St. for a business on W. Broad St.

10:49 p.m. An officer observed two males digging in the trash at a business on E. Broad St. The two were issued criminal trespass warnings, at the request of the business.

Jan. 28

2:58 p.m. An officer met with a complainant at a restaurant on W. Broad St. when an ex-employee was sending texts to other employees that appeared threatening. The officer noted that no threats were made to the complainant, and she could have her employees text the ex-employee to tell her to quit texting them or charges would be filed.

Jan. 29

3:42 p.m. Officers assisted Wood County S.O. deputies on a search for a reported welfare concern of a person who had possibly overdosed. The man was located on S. Stone St. Deputies took over the investigation and the man was transported by EMS.

4:04 p.m. A resident on Line Street requested advice from an officer on threatening text messages. The officer determined the male subject had told the complainant to quit texting him, and she escalated the situation by not doing so.

5:14 p.m. A shoplifting theft that occurred the week before was reported by Walmart. This is under investigation. 

5:17 p.m. A burglary of a habitation was reported on Wells St. The resident reported a possible known suspect that took medication, television and other items. This is under investigation.

5:58 p.m. An officer assisted a woman who lost her keys at the Christus Trinity Clinic. The keys were found.

9:40 p.m. Michael Lee McKinley, 29, of Lindale, was arrested for theft under $2,500 with two previous convictions (felony) when he walked out of Walmart with $15 worth of merchandise without paying. McKinley was stopped by DPS in Lindale after officers were able to get the license plate number and notify Lindale officers that he was possibly headed that way. McKinley had prior convictions for theft, which elevated his charge to a felony.
