Mineola Police Report, Feb. 7 - March 4

7:48 a.m. A resident on Minwood St. reported she was having problems with her son. An officer responded to speak with the teenager. Everything had settled down upon the officer’s arrival.

8:14 a.m. Kindness Cottage reported someone had broken the lid to their dumpster. A directive patrol was issued.

3:13 p.m. A resident on Sycamore St. reported a package taken from their porch.

8:13 p.m. Jackie Willis Britton, 54, Mineola, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance under 28 grams (pills) after he was stopped on a traffic violation at 100 N. Pacific St.

9:10 p.m. Wood County S.O. requested assistance from a female officer on a traffic stop at W. Patten and Pegues St.

Feb. 28

10:00 a.m. A noise complaint was received when workers were playing loud music at the old football field. An officer responded and spoke with the men.

12:28 p.m. The Rent A Center reported a resident would not give them some property that belonged to a roommate on Carolyn St. The situation was a civil matter.

1:45 p.m. A resident on Ivey St. reported her sister’s ex-boyfriend keeps driving by the residence and then attempted to run the reporting party off the roadway. The officer that responded was unable to locate the subject. A directive patrol was issued for the residence and area.

2:49 p.m. A witness reported an 18 wheeler that damaged the railroad arms and kept going. The caller obtained a phone number on the truck and that information was relayed to Union Pacific Railroad.

4:06 p.m. Mineola Motor Lodge reported a man that had not paid rent in a few weeks that broke back into the room that was locked by the owner. When an officer responded to the location to speak with the man he took off running. The incident was determined to be a civil matter since it was being rented as an apartment.

4:29 p.m. Suspicious activity was reported when a vacant residence had a busted window on the back door on Stone St. An officer attempted contact with a property owner but was unsuccessful. 

5:32 p.m. Officers responded to the train depot when a man that did not pay for a ticket was going to attempt to board the train. 

7:08 p.m. An officer responded to E. Broad St. when a parked vehicle in front of a business was blocking the lane of traffic. Wyatt’s Wrecker was called after several attempts to find the owner. The owner did show up before the vehicle was towed.

Feb. 29

12:13 a.m. Suspicious activity was reported in reference to the dumpster behind Stage. An officer responded and determined some people were there to get into the dumpster and take items. The individuals left the property after they were approached by the officer.

10:37 a.m. A resident at Autumn Winds Assisted Living reported having some money taken from their room.

5:18 p.m. George Logan Jacobs, 63, Quitman, was arrested for driving while license invalid (enhanced) and failure to report address change after he was stopped for a traffic violation on N. Pacific St.

March 1

1:09 a.m. A stolen riding Zero turn lawnmower was recovered from a residence on Phillips St. The resident was determined not to have any knowledge it was stolen from Home Depot and then sold to him.

6:02 a.m. A welfare concern was reported in reference to a puppy that appeared to be stuck in a dryer vent on N. Pacific St. Attempts to get the resident to the door were unsuccessful, so the property manager was able to allow an officer in to check on the puppy, which was fine.

12:23 p.m. A man was reported going door to door on Laura St., soliciting. An officer located the man and warned him about soliciting without a permit.

7:24 p.m. A man reported a hit and run at S. Johnson and S. Pacific St. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful. A report was completed.

March 2

10:05 a.m. A disturbance was reported at an apartment on N. Pacific St. A woman reported her estranged husband would not leave the apartment after repeated requests. Officers determined the man was wanting to see his child and caused a verbal argument. The man left and was advised to obtain an attorney for visitation rights.

3:14 p.m. An officer assisted first responders and EMS with a customer that needed medical attention while at Walmart. The man was transported to the hospital by EMS.

4:12 p.m. A verbal disturbance was reported in reference to a child custody situation at a residence on Pamela St. The mother reported the father would not allow her get her child for a custody exchange. After negotiations between the two, the father allowed the mother to have the child.

6:48 p.m. A verbal disturbance was reported between a man and woman at a residence on Ivey St. Officers responded and spoke with both parties. The two agreed to separate for the night.

8:19 p.m. A theft was reported at Walmart that was captured on video surveillance.

9:05 p.m. Loud music was reported on English St. An officer responded and asked the resident to keep the music down.

9:38 p.m. A resident at the Garden Apartments on N. Pacific St. requested to have her estranged husband trespassed from the residence, since he continually comes on the property beating on the door and windows. The subject was trespassed by phone the following day.

March 3

9:01 a.m. Officers assisted an MISD officer and the fire department on an 18 wheeler trailer fire in front of the middle school.

1:23 p.m. Possession of identifying information was obtained during an investigation on a subject. The subject was in possession of at least two individuals’ bank information and/or ID. This is under investigation.

4:15 p.m. A man was reportedly causing problems at the Garden Apartments while attempting to visit his child. The man was warned about trespassing.

6:30 p.m. A resident on Pegues St. reported her son and nephew called her and said two other males were at their residence trying to fight them. The mother reported she was a few minutes away and requested an officer at her residence. Officers responded before anyone was fighting. According to the two that live at the residence, the other teenagers were mad because they were told they could not be there.

9:23 p.m. The manager of the apartments on N. Pacific St. reported the same man that was trespassed on prior calls was on the property walking around. An officer responded and observed the man in the church parking lot and he was not trespassing at that time.

March 4

7:33 a.m. Rodrick Oneal Martin, 40, Mineola, was arrested for driving while license invalid (enhanced) after an officer observed him driving and knew he did not have a valid driver’s license.

11:05 a.m. An officer was requested at Sonic, due to a male talking to himself and flipping over chairs on the patio. An officer responded and transported the male to his residence.

1:10 p.m. A hit and run was reported at the Justice of the Peace #2 office on Greenville Ave. The man was contacted, and his insurance was turned over to the person that had damage to their vehicle and no charges were filed, which was the complainant’s request. 

2:17 p.m. A disturbance was reported at a residence on Stone St. A grandfather reported his grandson had threatened to hurt him. A citation was written to the teenager for assault by threat.

7:47 p.m. A resident on N. Pacific St. reported harassment in reference to her estranged son-in-law continuing to beat on her apartment door and find her in town and harass her.
