After 15 years, the Pilot Club of Mineola has changed its major fundraiser, which had been a Valentine dinner, dance and auction. According to club President Kara Ellerbee, “the Valentine fundraiser had run its course and the club needed to raise money in a new and different way.”
After a brain-storming session, the club decided to do a mystery theater dinner and invited the Lake Country Playhouse to share in the fundraiser. The event will be held Saturday, April 6 at the Mineola Civic Center.
The Mineola High School Anchor Club will still have its Pretty Purses fundraiser at the same time. New and gently used purses will be sold for $20 each, and a drawing will be held among those purchasing purses, with the winner receiving a designer purse.
Plans are to continue with the “Bucket” items, where winners are drawn from each bucket for valuable items, such as a taste of Mineola basket, jewelry, lawn chairs and more. Most likely the live auction will be continued as well. More information will be available in coming issues of the Wood County Monitor.
