Happy New Year to you all! We are back to normal operating hours. Thank you for understanding and letting our employees spend time with family and friends over the holidays.

Coming up soon, we will host UT Tyler Health Sciences Center-Lifestyle Change Program about diabetes and heart disease. This will be on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Meredith Room of the library. Come to this free event and learn about diabetes and heart health and get free resources to live healthy with diabetes.

Thursday, Jan. 13, the Friends of the Library will meet at 1 p.m. for a fun book discussion and later in the day, at 6:30 p.m. with Pajama Story Time for families with children ages four to eight years.

A little out of order but important nonetheless is our American Girl Historical Reading Club on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. learning about Kirsten, Marie-Grace and Cecile. This is for girls ages seven and older with an adult female relative. Registration is a must and may be accomplished by calling 903-569-2767 to reserve your spot.

East Texas Library Friends Book Club will be meeting on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. to discuss Kristen Hannah’s Four Winds and to select more books to read.

In the event of inclement weather, please check KMOO, our Facebook page, and/or our website for hours of operation.

A quick recap of 2021: We added 287 new patrons to the library bringing our active patrons to 3,891. We hosted 9,762 library visits and circulated 27,385 physical items saving patrons about $498,407. We offered 112 in-person programs and 96 passive programs with over 2,000 participants. We estimate the value of our library’s services to the community which includes internet access from patron stations and WiFi, reference questions answered, items circulated, newspapers and magazines to peruse and use of meeting room space to be over $600,000.

We enjoyed seeing and helping all of our patrons in 2021 and look forward to more visits in 2022.

We received a grant from the Dorothy Louise Kyler Foundation to purchase children and young adult materials, and a donation from Diana Bankhead as well as Diane Pitkin and David Lane.

Please, remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible.
