We’ve decorated for Halloween and the staff has decorated pumpkins based on books or characters in books. Stop by the library (301 N. Pacific) and vote for your favorite or find us on Facebook and like your favorite.

We also have lots of books just right for this time of year: books about ghosts, scary stories, books about pumpkins, etc. These books are featured on displays throughout the library.

Have you ever wondered how to use social media? Have you wanted to use one of our databases but weren’t sure how? What about eBooks? Try our Niche Academy. This is full of tutorials that can show you how to use all of these. We hope you try some of the tutorials. Let us know what you think.

For the fall we have brought back Pajama Story Time courtesy of the Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library. It is offered the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. and is for children ages four to eight and their families. Enjoy some stories and a light snack. The next event is Nov. 11. 

We continue to offer Toddler Story Time on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m for children ages 18 months to three years and their parents along with Baby Bounce on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. for the even younger crowd and their parents. These functions offer age-appropriate activities and stories as well a time for parents to talk.

Weather permitting, there will be a book sale on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. until noon. The price for books, audio books and movies is a donation to the library. Donation amounts are listed throughout the sale area.  Volunteers at the sale carry no change.
