Two weeks in a row! This is what happens when you take a holiday and you let your mind wander.

Summer Reading has concluded. We offered a great variety of craft activities each week for children and families to do together. This will continue until the end of July.

August is a time for regrouping and planning so we probably won’t offer any grab and go’s. Then again, we may put out some mystery grab and go’s consisting of activities we offered earlier in the year. These will be in plain, brown envelopes and it will be a mystery as to what is inside.

Where did the trees go? They were Bradford pears that had reached the age when limbs start falling off. Really doesn’t have anything to do with the weather; it is more due to age. We had already lost two limbs out of the southernmost tree and decided it would be better to remove them and start over with another type of tree at a later date.

The Eagle Scout Project is nearing completion. We like the new blue trim. Draws your eye to the building (which is more easily seen from the street without trees). In the past, many people have said they could not find our library located on the corner of Pacific and Blair streets and that is less of a problem now.

We are running on a slim staff at the moment and will be adding several new faces in the coming weeks. Please, be patient with us as we work through this transition. We are ready and willing to assist our patrons but some of us are still learning. Thank you for your understanding.

Our hours will be changing in the middle of August after Mineola ISD resumes classes. We believe the new hours will be a welcome change.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible.
