Mineola Memorial Library Notes
We survived Snowmageddon. We were very lucky compared to many libraries across Texas. We closed for a week, but we did not suffer any plumbing or structural issues. We were blessed.
In order to accommodate our patrons who might have been affected by the snowstorm, we extended due dates and waived fines for the two weeks immediately following the storm. We are now back to regular due dates and collecting fines for overdue materials. Not a happy item to report, but it is time to get back to a regular four-week check out so all patrons may have access to materials. As always, if something unexpected comes up, contact the library so we can work with you.
The mask mandate was repealed on March 10. As a business, we have elected to continue to have our staff wear masks and to ask our patrons to also wear masks. Social distancing will continue to be observed as will the regular cleaning of surfaces and the quarantining of items upon return. We do this for our staff and our patrons.
Things that will remain in place: curbside service will continue from now until far into the future. We will continue to clean returned items and place them aside for a period of time before returning them to the shelves. We have always offered up to two 30-minute sessions on the computers and that will continue. At this time, we have only four patron computer stations open. We continue to ask you to stay at home if you do not feel well.
Slowly but surely, we will get back to offering programs and events. At this time, we only have a couple of library-sponsored events scheduled in the library. One is the American Girl Historical Reading Club where girls and their adult companion participate in games, crafts and snacks related to a specific time in American history. Reservations are required Contact the library for more info at 903-569-2767.
Watch for book sales to appear once again. Items are purchased by monetary donation, and suggested amounts are posted. This is income for the library for material purchases, programs and office requirements. Book sales are dependent upon the weather and personnel to open and close the event. Watch Facebook for notifications.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit, and your donations may be tax-deductible.
