Many thanks to the Meredith Foundation for approving our requests for the coming year. We really do appreciate your support of us and all the Mineola projects you fund.

Thank you John Arbter for the lovely article about the Mineola Memorial Library’s bookmobile. We had fun showing it to you.

March brings us all kinds of things: Texas History month, Women’s history month, St. Patrick’s Day and the birthday of Dr. Seuss. We have lots of books about these subjects. To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the Cat in the Hat will visit on Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. during Friday Free Play.

Spring break falls March 9-13. We will continue to have programs for those under age 5 – Preschool Story Time on Tuesdays at 11 a.m., Toddler Time on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m., Baby Bounce on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and Friday Free Play on Fridays at 10 a.m. After school is canceled because there won’t be any school and we will take a break.

American Girls Historical Reading club will meet on Saturday, March 14 at 10 a.m. If you and your daughter want to participate, you must register/sign-up by calling the library at 903-569-2767 or stopping by at 301 N. Pacific and let us know you will be attending. We request registration in order to have enough supplies on hand for all to participate. This is a time for mothers and daughters to spend time together learning about history through crafts, games and snacks all related to a specific time period.

Book club will meet Thursday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the library to discuss “The Fetch” by Laura Whitcomb. Please join us and tell us what you think.

We offer a crochet program twice a month. First Saturday of the month (March 7) at 1 p.m. and the fourth Saturday of the month (March 28) at 10 a.m. It is open to all skill levels. If you don’t crochet, bring your craft project and just enjoy fellowship with other crafters. We offer this program twice a month and at different times so participants can attend at a convenient time.

The census begins March 12 and this year you can answer census questions online. Don’t have internet access? Stop by the library and use one of our public access computers. It should take about 15 minutes. Remember, it is public access and you will need to be mindful of your surroundings.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations are tax-deductible.
