February is here and all sorts of things happen in February. We have lots of books to recognize February as African-American History month, Valentine’s and President’s Day.

Our Friends of the Library are hosting a tea on Thursday, Feb. 6 from noon until 1 p.m. It will be held at our annex location, 1721 N. Pacific. Florence B’s has generously provided items for the fashion show. Join this free event and learn more about the Friends of the Library.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, City National Bank will be having a bake sale, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The proceeds from this sale will benefit the library. Please stop by and purchase a yummy dessert and support the library at the same time. Their address is 200 N. Pacific and it’s just across the street from the library.

We have added a new carpet in the children’s area. It is an undersea theme in blue and green. Stop by and see what else is new in the library.

We are continuing to offer Pre School Story Time on Tuesday mornings at 11 for 3, 4, and 5 year olds with their parents, K-5 after school on Tuesdays at 4 p.m., Toddler Time on Wednesday mornings at 10:15 for children 18 months to 3 years with a parent, and Baby Bounce on Thursday mornings at 10 for infants to 18 month olds with their parents. We have ceased offering TNT on Tuesday due to lack of participation.

The Library Book Club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. to discuss “The Typewriter.” After discussion, the group will learn of the next selection.

The East Texas Library Friends book club will meet in Rains County on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. to discuss “The Gods of Howl Mountain.” Find this group at www.goodreads.com and learn how to be a part of this group of Friends from across East Texas.

Tax time is upon us once again. The library does not have any tax forms nor tax assistance. To get the forms you may visit a local tax preparer or go to irs.gov and select the form you need and print it. Tax Preparation Assistance is available in Lindale at the Lille Russell Memorial Library on Thursdays by appointment. Appointments may be made by calling the Lindale Library at 903-882-1900.
