Isn’t this cool fall weather wonderful? Gets you in the mood to cook again, maybe work in the yard or just curl up in a comfortable place and read a book that takes you to somewhere else. We have lots to choose from in each of those categories.

Our book clubs are having lots of fun. East Texas Library Friends just met and discussed their book and picked two more for next year. ETLF is made up of readers from the East Texas area and their next book to read is Lisa Wingate’s “Before We Were Yours.” ETLF will meet on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at a location in Rains County. Go to goodreads.com and find the East Texas Library Friends group to get directions.

The Mineola Memorial Library book club just finished reading “The Library Book” by Susan Orleans. This discussion was an interesting mix of those who were not as aware of what it takes to work in a library and those that do. This was a non-fiction book about the Los Angeles Public Library fire in 1986 that burned 400,000 volumes and damaged about 700,000 more and was overshadowed by the Chernobyl incident. The next book club selection is Devon Delaney’s “Expiration Date.” Join the group for the discussion of this book on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

Staff may be dressed differently on Thursday, Oct. 31. We thought we would join in the fun. If you would like to visit the library in costume, we would enjoy seeing your endeavors.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. in the library. Their program will be presented by Lisa Means and Jennifer Kindle titled Immune Boost Your Holidays. This is early notice, but we want to be sure you have time to put this on your calendar and join the group. Friends of the Library supports the library efforts through fundraising and volunteering. They are a great bunch of people and would enjoy meeting you.

Lynda Rauscher made a memorial donation for Sophie Crowson. Donations were made by Tim and Celia Boswell and anonymous.
