Mineola school board will accept letters of interest through noon Monday for the vacant school board seat.

The board meets again next Monday night and will consider an appointment to fill the term created by Jay McGough’s resignation. McGough resigned recently so that his wife could be considered for the middle school nurses position.

The appointee would serve until the next election in May 2023, at which time the one-year unexpired term would appear on the ballot.

The board discussed contacting Todd Morgan, who ran for the board in May. He placed fourth for the three positions on the ballot.

The board accepted the following staff resignations:

Jana Darby, Courtney Garrett, Chris Horton, Monica Howard, Brooke Leyva, Easton Silman, Jeffery Tittle, D.J. Wernecke, Megan Ledsome and Jayme Mason.

The following personnel were hired:

Janda Groves, Stacey McGough, Kameron Neely, Alicia Stewart, Emily Wintters.

The board gave Mize authority to make personnel decisions without board approval through Aug. 15 in order to fill last-minute positions.

As of Monday the district was still in need of a middle school math teacher, high school ag teacher and counselor.
