Mineola HS Band enjoys Chicago trip

Posted

The Mineola High School Band spent five days in Chicago in early June.  The band is pictured in front of the National Field Museum, but it also spent time at the Shedd Aquarium, the Navy Pier and the Hancock Tower, which is the fourth tallest building in North America. Members also enjoyed some Gino’s Chicago style pizza and then took a dinner cruise on The Spirit of Chicago ship on Lake Michigan. The highlights of the trip for our band students had to be watching performances of Hamilton the musical and Blue Man Group. The students also attended a concert performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, in which it performed the music of Beethoven and Wagner. On the way to Chicago, the Mineola band stopped at St. Louis to see the famous Gateway Arch and the Mississippi River. Our band students here at Mineola had a great time and had the trip of a lifetime. Thanks to everyone that supported our kids through donations and our concession stand at the Friday night ball games. You helped make this trip possible for our awesome band here at Mineola.
