Mineola High School Anchor Club places giving trees around community for Caring and Sharing
Mineola Caring & Sharing Christmas trees are going up around the city thanks to the Mineola High School Anchor Club.
The “Giving” trees may be found at several locations including the MHS gym lobby, city hall, Methodist Ministries Center, Chamber of Commerce, Kitchen’s, the Venues on Sycamore, First Christian Church and Brookshire’s.
The Giving trees are decorated with ornaments that contain the gender and age (birth through 12 year olds) of needy children in the MISD. They help Mineola Caring & Sharing with its toy drive. Take an ornament off the tree, purchase a gift valued at least $15, and return the unwrapped gift to any of the trees with the ornament taped to the box by Monday, Dec. 9.
The MHS Anchor Club has helped Mineola Caring & Sharing gather toys in this way for over 20 years. Last year over 200 toys were collected. The Anchor Club is a school service group sponsored by the Mineola Pilot Club which was chartered in 1978. Michelle Hernandez is this year’s president. Their faculty advisor is Kari Callison, and Joyce Curry is the Pilot Coordinator.
