After fighting off a feisty Scurry-Rosser team for a 26-24 win in game one, the Quitman Lady Bulldogs got down to business in the next two games to sweep the Lady Wildcats 3-0 in the first district game for both teams. Quitman would take games two and three by the scores of 25-16 and 25-14.

In the first game the score was tied 10 times throughout the contest, but dominating net play from Kaci Raley and Molly Tanner spelled the difference in the outcome. Quitman led 23-20 until Scurry-Rosser fought back to knot the score 24-24. A good serve by Madalyn Spears was misplayed to give Quitman a 25-24 lead and Tanner finished it off with a kill for the 26-24 final.

In the second game, Scurry-Rosser closed the gap to 10-8 before Quitman would take control and dominate the rest of the way. The Lady Bulldogs increased their lead to 23-14 on a block and score from Raley before scoring the final 25-16 tally.

In game three, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind 11-12 before taking control. Quitman would outscore the Lady Wildcats 14-2 the rest of the way. Raley had 11 digs, 13 kills, two aces and three blocks; Tanner added fie digs, eight kills, three aces and one block; Spears had five digs and seven kills; and Cammie Hicks had five digs, one kill and 21 assists.

Abby Dobbs played a great game on the back line and came through with several key serves during the contest. Brittany Walls continued hustle after balls kept them in play and led to Quitman scores. Macy Wilson’s play at the net also kept the Lady Wildcats at bay.

The win over Scurry-Rosser put the Lady Bulldogs 17-7 for the year and 1-0 in district play. They travel to Edgewood Tuesday and are at home Saturday against Alba-Golden.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Bulldogs ended their tough pre season slate with a 3-0 sweep over Van by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-21. Raley had 15 kills, 12 digs, three aces, one assist; Tanner had 14 digs, 12 kills, seven aces; and Hicks had 27 assists and two digs.
