Mineola Caring and Sharing to start campaign
Upcoming dates for the Mineola Caring & Sharing program were set by the board of directors in August.
The first volunteer meeting of the year will be Monday, Sept. 21 in the church hall of St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 6:30 P.M.
Mineola Caring & Sharing is a 501(c)3 organization which provides food, Christmas stockings and gifts for the children of the Mineola ISD and their families. Traditionally, around three hundred families and 1,200 individuals are served each year at Christmas.
The Oct. 19 volunteer meeting will be hosted by New Hope Baptist Church, and the final meeting Nov. 16 will be at the First Christian Church in Mineola.
Other important dates include the KMOO radio auction on Saturday, Nov. 7 and the Brookshire’s raffle starting on Saturday, Oct. 24 and ending on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Distribution week starts with the sorting of food items on Monday, Dec. 7 with Distribution Day on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Volunteers are needed for all these dates and for the many committees that work throughout the months leading up to Distribution Day.
To volunteer in a particular way, come to the meeting on Sept. 21 or call project chairs Roy and Beth Shockey at 817-475-9840. To become a recipient for food and gifts, fill out the form provided by the child’s school.
Those without a child in the Mineola ISD can call Roy or Beth.
