Wall honoring military placed at Holly Brook Baptist Church

Posted

To honor relatives and friends serving in the military, Holly Brook Baptist Church members placed a "Wall of Honor" in their Family Life Center.

The wall features pictures of Hawkins and Wood County residents serving in the military, in addition to information about them, according to publicity coordinator Louise Gilbreath.

Currently, the wall includes Garrett Christianson, Robert Dyer, Bill Fry, Kyle Garis, Charles Henderson, Larry Henderson, Phillip Henderson, Mike Langford, Matt McGraw, Jeremy McLaughlin, Christopher Milam, Vincent Pope, Luke Vermillion, and Daulton Welborn.

On the second Sunday of each month, a group of Holly Brook members and others in the community meet at the church to pray for those in the military, Gilbreath said. During the worship service each Sunday, the church lists the names of those who were killed in action.

"The list is a reminder of the sacrifices that young men and women are making to preserve our country's freedom," Gilbreath said.

Anyone interested in supporting those serving in the military is invited to the monthly military support group meeting.

Holly Brook Baptist Church is located at 3219 S. FM 2869, Hawkins, telephone 903-769-2091. Their web site can be found at .
