McFarland sets school reunion
The McFarland School in Mineola will host its reunion Friday and Saturday, July 11-12 at the former school’s facilities on S. Stone St.
Events kick off Friday at noon at the school gym with a Purple and White Bash picnic, with food service from 12-3 p.m.
A meet and greet and game night follows from 7-11 p.m.
Saturday includes the alumni brunch and meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Free time and individual class gatherings are from 12:30-5 p.m.
Saturday evening begins with cocktails from 6-6:45 p.m. followed by a banquet and dinner from 7-9 p.m. and entertainment and dance from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
Addie E. McFarland High School and its predecessors served the black community in the Mineola area from its founding in 1889 until it was closed during desegregation in 1965.
Alumni have maintained its facilities as a community center, including a museum.
