McFarland grad named to Jarvis honor
Among the inductees of the Jarvis Christian University Athletic Hall of Fame is the late Libbie Tuck Jackson, a graduate of McFarland High School in Mineola.
The enshrinement luncheon is Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the E.W. Rand Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center.

McFarland grad named to Jarvis honor
Among the inductees of the Jarvis Christian University Athletic Hall of Fame is the late Libbie Tuck Jackson, a graduate of McFarland High School in Mineola.
The enshrinement luncheon is Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11:30 a.m. at the E.W. Rand Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center.
Guest speaker will be former NBA star Spud Webb.
Jackson received a bachelor of science degree in physical education from Texas College and a master of physical education/health degree from East Texas State University. When Libbie arrived on the campus of Jarvis Christian College (now JCU), she was determined to make a difference in the life of every student she taught, every student she coached and every student she came in contact with.
While at Jarvis she was an educator, served as advisor of the Physical Education Major and Minor Club and coached volleyball, softball, cheerleading and drill team. Her many accomplishments include drill team, cheerleader, softball and volleyball coach of the year. The cheerleaders and drill team received numerous Intercollegiate Athletic Conference awards every year under her leadership. She was a member of the United States Cheerleader Association, Texas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and Phi Delta Kappa to name a few.
Libbie was a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was an active member of the Tyler Alumnae Chapter 28 years and served as second vice president. While at Jarvis she served as advisor for the Theta Kappa Chapter and received runnerup award as Southwest Regional Advisor of the Year. Because of her love for Delta Sigma Theta, she left a lasting legacy of Delta in her family.
Libbie was married to the late Dr. Charles L. Jackson and is survived by son, Kevin Jackson; daughter-in-law, Dr. Sonja Jackson; daughter, Kristi Harris; son-in-law, Kendrick Harris; grandson, Kevron; granddaughters, Kandice, Kelci, Kyla, Kyndall and Korian; great grandson, Kayson; great granddaughter, Khelani; and host of family members.
