Well some of you may have heard me on the radio at the first of the month when I completely and totally lost my train of thought. The thought that I lost had to do with late library books. I was talking about if you checked out a library book and maybe went to a family gathering out of town. You got home and realized you had no clue where your library book could be found. As a result, you ended up with a late item. Fortunately, someone in your family found the item and sent it to you.

What I was going to say was to bring in the library book. We’ll get it checked in. The fine might not be as bad as you expect. We send out several notices with the last notice stating the replacement cost of the missing / late item. Can be intimidating. If you bring back the wayward item, the replacement fee goes away because the item has been returned and only late fees remain. On to more current items. Just wanted to clear up that loss of thought.

Our next Friends of the Library meeting will be April 6 at 1 p.m. Tina Davis of Kindness Kottage will talk to the Friends about their work and how they help the community. Donations for Kindness Kottage will be collected at the meeting as well. Come visit and see if this is a group you would like to be a part of.

The Library Book Club met on March 16 and discussed “Paranoia” by Joseph Finder. Come by the Library to learn the selection for the book club on April 20.

The library is applying for NASA @ My Library. This is a program promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills through, what else NASA related items. Earth Day is coming up in April and the after school program for kindergarten through fifth grade will be looking at clouds (pun intended and hoping the weather cooperates). In August, a solar eclipse will be present and there will be a program over Summer Reading that learns about eclipses and an event on Aug. 21, the day of the solar eclipse. Stay tuned for more details.

Don’t forget we have book drops on our porch if you cannot get to the library during normal hours and need to return your materials. One book drop is labeled for videos and is nearest the front door. The other book drop is larger and is for books. Please, do not use them during the day. We check the drops first thing in the morning and you may accidentally make your materials late by using them during normal hours.

Our regular programming continues with After School on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. for children kindergarten to high school; Pre School story time on Wednesday mornings at 11:15 a.m.; American Girls for those that register on the second Saturday at 10 a.m.; Computer Q & A the third Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and Library Book Club the third Thursday at 6 p.m.
