Lady Bulldogs take first at own track meet

The Quitman girls track team took first place honors in last week’s meet at the Quitman track. The Lady Bulldogs amassed 178 points followed by Como-Pickton, Commerce, Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, Alba-Golden and Rivercrest.

Lady Bulldogs take first at own track meet

The Quitman girls track team took first place honors in last week’s meet at the Quitman track. The Lady Bulldogs amassed 178 points followed by Como-Pickton, Commerce, Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, Alba-Golden and Rivercrest.

Quitman’s Brooklyn Marcee had a busy day. The junior athlete took first place in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and long jump and dominated the pole vault with a vault of 11 feet. Her pole vault win continued to make Marcee one of the region and state’s top competitors in the event. Her closest competitor was Payton Miller of Commerce who vaulted 7’6”. Marcee was also on the 4x100 relay team that finished second. 

The Quitman 4x200 relay team of Cristal Plata, Jazmin Rojas, Maddy Pence and Marcee also had a first-place finish.   

Quitman’s Halie Davis finished third in the shot put and discus and a fourth in the 100-meter dash. Delaney Flanagan finished fourth in the shot put. Teammate Kaysi Parker finished fifth in the discus.

Quitman’s Savana Smith and Bonnie Vander Schaaf finished third and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Lady Bulldogs Sarah Smith and Vander Schaaf finished third and sixth in the 400-meter dash. Sarah Smith and Alexa Flores were third and fourth in the 800-meter run. Vander Schaaf also had a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles

Quitman’s 4x400 meter relay team of Vander Schaaf, Savana Smith, Sarah Smith and Pence took first-place honors. 

Lady Bulldogs Savana Smith and Ruby Bringard finished second and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. In the 200-meter dash, Quitman’s Cristal Plata finished third and Alexis O’Neal fifth. In the 400-meter dash Quitman’s Vander Schaaf finished fourth.

Quitman’s Alexa Flores took fourth in the 800-meter run and the 3,200-meter run.

Alba-Golden’s Kamrin Wright had a first place finishe in the 400-meter dash while the Lady Panther’s Kalli Wright took top honors in the shot put.

Other Lady Panther finishers were Hope Wiley third in 100-meter dash; Bella Crawford second in the 100-meter hurdles, third in 300-meter hurdles and fifth in long jump. Hope Wiley was a third-place finisher in the 100-meter dash.
