Lady Bulldogs struggle at Spring Hill tournament
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs started the week with a solid 11-7 win over Kemp last Tuesday, but things got rough at the Spring Hill tournament where they dropped four in row. In the win over Kemp, Reiny Luman and Lindsey Hornaday each had two hits.
After the Kemp win the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Spring Hill. On Thursday they fell to Jefferson 14-9 and then lost to Waskom in a 6-5 heartbreaker. Luman had the hot hand against Jefferson delivering two hits including a double, and Kynlie Love added a double with one RBI. In the 6-5 loss to Waskom, Alexis O’Neal went 2-3 with an RBI and Hornaday added an RBI double.
The Lady Bulldogs were shut out Friday in two games, losing to Hughes Springs 6-0 and New Diana 7-0. In the Hughes Springs contest, Spears and Luman had one hit each while O’Neal went 2-2 against New Diana.
The Lady Bulldogs open district play Friday with a 6 p.m. game against Alba-Golden at the Quitman Softball Field.
