Joe Barnet (JB) Howard, Jr. of Lake Fork, Quitman, passed from this life on Jan. 27, 2020 at his home on the lake.

JB was born on Sept. 28, 1930 to Joe Barnet and Chloe Koiner Howard in Greenwood, Wise County. He graduated from Slidell High School in 1948 and was accepted to telephone lineman school. In 1952 he was drafted into the US Army and spent two years in Germany. He returned to work for SW Bell Telephone, played on the company baseball team and would later retire from Bell Telephone.

In 1954 he married Jo Coleman and they lived in various towns before they settled in Hurst, where they raised  four children.

They purchased their first boat and spent many weekends at the lake or at the Howard farm in Greenwood. JB moved to Granbury in 1974 and lived on the lake for many years. He married Jane Sims in Granbury and later they moved to Lake Fork near Quitman.

JB, along with his nephew, built the house on Lake Fork, later adding a boat dock – the perfect place for a man who loved being on the lake.
