James Leroy “Roy” Bullard

MINEOLA-Graveside services for James “Roy” Bullard were held July 20 at New Hope Cemetery in Mineola.

Mr. Bullard died July 15, 2018, in Tyler, Texas. He was born May 23, 1925, in Wray, Colorado to Stephen and Zadie Bullard.

He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army air Corps; graduated from the University of Kansas in 1950 and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He worked at Douglas Aircraft Co., Boeing Aircraft, American Airlines and on the appearance of Sputnik. He applied and was offered a position with NASA and worked on various projects including the Lunar Module and Lunar Landing Missions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Voltmann; and son, Mark Alan Bullard.

Survivors include his wife Linda Bullard, Mineola; son, Brent Bullard of Kilgore; daughter, Betsy Ann Hammack, Kilgore, Mary Lynn Bullard White Oak, Melanie Whitton, Longview, Holly Anna Etchelecu, Dallas and Owen Berry of Longview; brother, Wayne Bullard, Denver, Colorado; ten grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler 75701.
