The Mineola Yellowjackets defeated Class 4A Wills Point 35-17 in their first game as the number one team in the state. This time, it was a rugged "Jacket defense that led the way. Defensive back Noah Sneed intercepted three passes retuning one for a score. Kartney Hampton ran back a kickoff 90 yards for a score for Mineola who is now 4-0 on the season.

In games involving other district and county teams, the Harmony Eagles blistered Hawkins 23-12 behind quarterback Spencer Seahorn's two rushing touchdowns and one passing score. White Oak remained undefeated going 4-0 beating Tenaha while Jefferson was getting romped by Hughes Springs 63-28. Jefferson falls to 1-3 this season. In a defensive struggle, Winnsboro ran past Sabine 20-6.

Alba-Golden played its first game without quarterback Dylan Harle and the defensive came up big again in defeating Whitewright 15-13. The Panthers are a perfect 4-0 on the year and face a big test this Friday night hosting a 3-1 Big Sandy team for the Alba-Golden homecoming.

Going into the final week's action for district 8 3A D-1 Mineola and White Oak are at the top with identical 4-0 record. Those two powers meeting in the first district game October 9 at Mineola. Harmony is 3-1 with the Eagles only loss being a 34-33 heartbreaker to Palestine Westwood. Jefferson and Sabine are each standing at 1-3 and Quitman is 0-4.

The Quitman Bulldogs will host Caddo Mills this week in their final tune-up prior to a bye week and then opening district play at Harmony October 9. The Foxes are undefeated so far this season and are picked to finish just behind powerful Sunnyvale in District 6-3A D-1.

Caddo Mills was 6-5 last year falling to Pottsboro in bi-district. They are an experienced group with eight offensive and seven defensive starters back in action this year. Quarterback Ty Cox is a dual threat running and passing the ball while running backs Trystan McGee and Blaine Jarrett are threats out of the backfield.

Cox rushed for four TD's on 215 yards rushing on just 13 carries leading the Foxes leading the Foxes as they piled up 534 rushing yards in a 54- 43 win over Community. McGee added 199 yards on just nine carries and Jarrett had 120 yards on 10 carries.
